Thank You for a Milestone Year!

We are excited to share the following accomplishments from 2023:
- Funded over $765,000 to support – research, scholarships, internships, and education. This year we reached over $20 million in funding since founded in 1961.
. - T & B Research Library – the release of new information and resources addressing Thrips and Botrytis. Results of five years of specialized research which will save the industry tens of thousands of dollars annually.
.. - The establishment of our Sustainabloom program– a new initiative providing guides and best practices to help you in your sustainability efforts. The official site will launch in the next few months and will have resources for all segments and sizes of businesses.
. - Industry collaboration and partnerships with other floral organizations and media partners increasing awareness and funding for floriculture programs.
. - Informational webinars with expert researchers through our monthly Grow Pro webinars – with over 1,700 registrations
. - Increased our Young Professionals Council engagement and our education and in person events to foster development
. - Two new named fund and a new scholarship, bringing our scholarships to over 30!
A very special recognition is deserved for our longtime research director, Dr. Terril Nell, who retired in December after nine years with AFE. We certainly wish him and his lovely bride Cathy all the best in their next journey. At the same time, we welcome AFE’s new research coordinator Laura Barth who has already hit the ground running to continue ensuring AFE’s research flourishes.
And finally, want to recognize the many donors who support the work we do. We couldn’t do it without you and on behalf of the AFE Board of Trustees, we thank you. Your support helps provide funding and resources to advance our industry. Without the programs and research AFE provides, the floral industry would not be able to tackle challenges or develop our next generation of industry leaders.
We’re excited about kicking off the new year with a new AFE website, as well as a new Sustainabloom website, a full year of new monthly webinars, and new partnership plans and recognitions for supporters.
