From the Field: What Should We Tackle in 2027?

As we head into fall, there’s a lot happening behind the scenes at AFE as we look ahead to the research, education, and resources growers will need most in the coming year.
Planning is already underway for the 2027 Grow Pro Webinar Series, and I’d love your input. Are there topics you want us to tackle next year, or researchers and industry experts you’d like to hear from? Grow Pro is designed to address practical challenges in production, so your ideas help us make sure the series stays relevant and useful. Many of the topics we feature are the result of discussions with growers.
At the same time, we’re beginning to dig into this year’s submitted research proposals and discuss where future research dollars can have the greatest impact. That makes now an especially good time to tell us what challenges you’re facing. If there’s a production issue, pest, disease, technology need, or other research question that deserves more attention, please share it here. Your feedback helps inform our discussions and keeps industry needs at the center of AFE’s research program. You can see our currently funded projects further down in this issue.

It’s designed to help growers organize sustainability goals, identify priorities, and turn broad ideas into practical next steps for their operation. You can read more about it in this newsletter.
