2020 National Floriculture Forum
The dates of the 2020 National Floriculture Forum are February 28 – March 1 (note that it is a leap year!) in Charlotte, NC. The timing of the NFF overlaps with AFE’s Board Meeting. We plan for several joint meals and a field trip to allow for interaction.
The NFF continues an annual tradition dating back to the early 1990s. It is an educational meeting for industry leaders, university faculty, graduate students and government scientists from academic institutions, governmental agencies and the greenhouse industry.
The meeting brings together diverse floricultural communities with the objectives to:
- Address issues of importance to the floriculture industry
- Form collaborative relationships,
- Improve communication within the American floriculture industry to share and disseminate information
The 2020 NFF starts with a field trip to Metrolina Greenhouses in the afternoon of Friday, February 28 for those arriving early. Then, presentations and discussions on Saturday, February 29 and the morning of Sunday, March 1. Topics include the impact of hemp on the floriculture industry, how to develop effective collaborations, effective outreach to the floriculture industry, and other topics. Suggestions for additional topics are still being accepted. There also will be ample time for networking during breaks.
Teaching: how to assure that courses are relevant to the industry?
Outreach: effective ways to communicate with the industry?
Research: Making sure our science is relevant
Each session will have speakers from academia and industry, with lots of opportunities for questions and interaction. Each session will end with a panel discussion to discuss any topics of interest to the audience.
The deadline for registration and room reservations is Tuesday, January 28, 2020. However, earlier registration is strongly encouraged, since it will facilitate planning.
The host hotel will be the Fairfield Inn & Suites Charlotte Airport. They provide free airport transportation, as well as free breakfast. Reservations can be made below.

REGISTRATION IS OPEN!
Registration for the 2020 National Floriculture Forum is now open. Thanks to generous support from the American Floral Endowment, registration costs are very low: $50 for students and $100 for non-students. The forum will discuss how we can assure that our teaching, research, and extension meets the needs of our clientele: students, the floriculture industry, and university administrators.
