#FlowerMarketingMonday Video Series Reaches Thousands

According to Social Media Today, 90 percent of customers say videos help make buying decisions.  This is the strategy behind the American Floral Endowment's (AFE's) #FlowerMarketingMonday weekly video series, which has reached more than 30,000 consumers in its few weeks.

The video series that kicked off in mid-April, and continues through December 2018, features a weekly flower marketing video for the floral industry to use to promote everyday flower buying, holidays, and special life moments. Definitely READ MORE!

Shining Stars = Bright Futures

AFE will hold its 42nd Annual Fundraising Dinner on September 13th at the Westin Mission Hills, during the Society of American Florist's Annual Convention in Palm Springs, California.

The theme of this year’s event “Shining Stars = Bright Futures,” will shine attention on the sponsors and donors who support important floriculture research, student internship and scholarship programs, educational grants, and marketing studies on consumer trends and developments in the industry.

Call for Scholarship Reviewers - Get Involved

Interested in seeing the passion and enthusiasm of future generations? 

If so, volunteer to become an AFE scholarship reviewer today!  AFE has more than 25 annual scholarships awarded each year, ranging from $500 to $6,000!  The May 1 deadline yielded nearly 100 applications from students all over the U.S. who are passionate and excited about joining the industry.  It takes a dedicated group of individuals to review these applications, score them and determine the best of the best!

Plant Branding 101: Things to know about Plants and Millennials

As college students interested and actively involved in the horticulture industry,we have noticed there have been several studies conducted to figure out what attracts “Millennials” to plants and gardening. While many of these studies provide accurate information about our preferences as consumers, there is very little explanation for the thoughts that go behind each observation.

1.    No offense, but we actually don’t like being called ‘Millennials.’

“Millennials Are Killing Lunch.” “Millennials are killing the dinner date.” “Did Millennials Kill Fashion?” These are just a few titles associated with Millennials today. We know there is an incredibly negative connotation surrounding the word ‘Millennial.’ Nobody who thinks progressively likes being stereotyped and we are no different.

It's Mostly Women Who Buy Flowers, Right? (Spoiler: No!)

Men are trending to be "slightly more likely than women to be floral purchasers," according to the 2016 Floral Purchase Tracking Study conducted by marketing research firm Ipsos, AFE and the Society of American Florists.

Specifically, the study found men are 55 percent more likely, versus 45 percent for women, to be floral purchasers.
