Two New Scholarships Established for 2018

Two new scholarships have been established, just in time for the 2018 scholarship application season!

  • CalFlowers Scholarship
  • Long Island Flower Growers Association — Bob Gunther Memorial Scholarship

These new scholarships join the 21 other AFE scholarships awarded annually to promote and assist young professionals joining the floral and horticultural industries.

Students must apply by May 1st: endowment.org/scholarships

Lifelong Industry Leader John Tomasovic Dies

A legend in the plant industry, a true gentleman and the owner of a venerable family business in St. Louis, died on January 11th.

John L. Tomasovic, Sr. AAF, was 83 years old.

John, the owner of Tomasovic Greenhouses & Nursery Inc., graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia in 1956 with a degree in agriculture. He went on to become one of the industry's most dedicated leaders, known both for his vision and determination to grow the next generation.

Ultra Violet Rocks! How to Keep Blooms Looking 'Ultra' Radiant

Spring and summer present terrific opportunities to incorporate some of the more unusual flower varieties that match the 2018 Pantone Color of the Year, Ultra Violet.

Florists can use bursts of this vivid color to bring new looks to their designs.
