Building Futures Through Philanthropy

Heritage Circle Member:
PJ Ellison, Ellison’s Greenhouses, Inc.
Brenham, TX

From the very personal — delivering poinsettia plants to seniors at a nursing home on Christmas Eve — to the professional — running a company and serving on the AFE Board — to the visionary — providing an estate gift that will benefit future generations, PJ epitomizes what it means to give back. She says it is her heartfelt conviction that “you don’t need to be a large company, or a wealthy individual, to find some way to make a difference.”

It is recognized that alternatives to peat must be developed to meet environmental concerns pertaining to mining of peat bogs. Also, peat supplies can also be limited by wet weather conditions that restrict harvest during certain times of the year.

AFE Heritage Circle Members Honored

Two years ago, AFE developed the Heritage Circle - a group consisting of supporters who have provided for an estate gift to AFE in their wills or living trusts.  For these 23 members, the floral industry has been a meaningful part of their lives and livelihood, and they realized that an estate gift to AFE is the ultimate way to help ensure it is here for the next generation.
