Red y Katie Kennicott han establecido un homenaje conmemorativo a trav\u00e9s de la Fundaci\u00f3n Floral Estadounidense (AFE), en honor a Donald (Don) E. Hook, AAF.<\/p>\n

Don falleci\u00f3 pac\u00edficamente el domingo 20 de marzo de 2022 a la edad de 92 a\u00f1os. Don fue un miembro de mucho tiempo de la industria floral y un hombre de familia devoto.<\/p>\n

Don era el propietario de Pittsburgh Cut Flower, que fue fundada en 1898. Comenz\u00f3 a trabajar all\u00ed cuando ten\u00eda solo 21 a\u00f1os y continu\u00f3 durante los siguientes 50 a\u00f1os. \u201cSu pasi\u00f3n por las flores proven\u00eda de su comprensi\u00f3n de que ayudaban a las personas a expresar muchas emociones\u201d, dice su yerno, Bob Luthultz.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

En 1976, Hook compr\u00f3 la empresa a su padre. Tras hacerse cargo del negocio, tambi\u00e9n asumi\u00f3 varios otros roles de liderazgo voluntario. A finales de los a\u00f1os 80, sirvi\u00f3 como miembro de la Junta Directiva de AFE. Don sirvi\u00f3 a la Fundaci\u00f3n en muchas capacidades: Secretario, Vicepresidente de Recaudaci\u00f3n de Fondos y Presidente. Tambi\u00e9n presidi\u00f3 el marat\u00f3n telef\u00f3nico de 1983 participando como uno de nuestros recaudadores de fondos m\u00e1s exitosos. Tambi\u00e9n fue expresidente de la Sociedad de Floristas Estadounidenses (SAF) y de la Asociaci\u00f3n de Floristas Mayoristas y Proveedores de Floristas (WFFSA).<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEl ejemplo y el est\u00edmulo de Don fueron una inspiraci\u00f3n para m\u00ed y para muchos otros j\u00f3venes para enriquecer nuestras vidas mediante la participaci\u00f3n en las asociaciones de la industria floral\u201d, se\u00f1al\u00f3 Red Kennicott, de Kennicott Brothers Company.<\/p><\/blockquote>

Adem\u00e1s, Don fue miembro de la junta directiva de West View Savings Bank, donde obtuvo el t\u00edtulo de presidente em\u00e9rito. Dedic\u00f3 muchas horas como voluntario en su iglesia y fue uno de los fundadores de su organizaci\u00f3n North Hills Community Outreach.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n\t

En su tiempo libre, Don continu\u00f3 su compromiso con nuestra industria a trav\u00e9s de la jardiner\u00eda. Tambi\u00e9n dedic\u00f3 gran parte de su tiempo a su amada familia.<\/p>\n

Amado esposo de la difunta Matilda Kampas Hook y de la difunta Kay C. Hook; padre de Sally (el difunto Jerry) Boeh, Sharon (Bob) Luthultz, Donald (Pam) Hook, Jr., Jeffrey (Tammy) Hook y el difunto Jay Hook; padrastro de Gregory (Carol Davidson) Chiles y Lee Ann Chiles; hermano del difunto Howard Hook; abuelo de 8 y bisabuelo de 11.<\/p>\n

Don ser\u00e1 recordado por su compromiso con las flores y su familia. Su liderazgo y orientaci\u00f3n no ser\u00e1n olvidados. Durante su tiempo en AFE, fue muy conocido por su sentido de la justicia, la objetividad y el profesionalismo.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
