The AFE Young Professionals Council Advisor to the Board is a special position that will engage and interact with the AFE Board of Trustees and Staff to represent the industry\u2019s young professionals and share their perspectives.<\/span><br><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><br><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This new Advisor will participate in AFE Committee and Board meetings, share the perspective of the next generation, and influence how AFE engages with young professionals. It is a unique volunteer opportunity facilitating direct connection between longtime industry leaders and up-and-coming members.<\/span><br><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><br><a title=\"https:\/\/endowment.org\/ypc\" contenteditable=\"false\" href=\"https:\/\/endowment.org\/es\/ypc\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/endowment.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/imported-files\/ee077d70-ab33-4fc5-85ab-8dc5073160fb.png\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" align=\"right\" data-file-id=\"538613\"><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Each Advisor will come from AFE\u2019s<\/span> <a title=\"https:\/\/endowment.org\/ypc\/\" contenteditable=\"false\" href=\"https:\/\/endowment.org\/es\/ypc\/\">Young Professionals Council (YPC)<\/a>. <span style=\"color: #000000;\">Established in 2015, the YPC is a free-to-join group that offers leadership and networking opportunities for young industry professionals. YPC members participate in online and in-person meetings, webinars, and other opportunities to share ideas, collaborate with influential industry members, and help promote careers in the floral industry.<\/span><br><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><br><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This advisory position will be another one of those opportunities. Granting benefits to both AFE and the Advisor themselves, the new shared perspectives will increase the diversity of thought in Board meetings and ensure that the current challenges and needs of young professionals are communicated.<\/span><br><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><br><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/endowment.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/imported-files\/5e5d54c5-f6fc-d54d-1edb-cd8c7060b9df.png\" width=\"150\" height=\"171\" align=\"left\" data-file-id=\"2287944\">AFE\u2019s first Advisor to the Board is Dr. Melinda Knuth. Dr. Knuth is an Assistant Professor and Researcher at North Carolina State University. In 2016 Dr. Knuth joined the YPC as one of the first members. She has been involved with AFE through receiving research funding and as a webinar presenter.<\/span><br><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><br><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Dr. Knuth specializes in innovative management and marketing strategies to investigate consumer attitudes and behaviors for horticulture crops \u2014 both edible and ornamental. With funding from the<\/span> <a title=\"https:\/\/floralmarketingfund.org\/\" contenteditable=\"false\" href=\"https:\/\/floralmarketingfund.org\/\">Fondo de Comercializaci\u00f3n Floral<\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\">, she conducted an<\/span> <a title=\"https:\/\/floralmarketingfund.org\/product\/determining-consumer-preferences-for-floral-design-elements\/\" contenteditable=\"false\" href=\"https:\/\/floralmarketingfund.org\/product\/determining-consumer-preferences-for-floral-design-elements\/\">innovative eye-tracking study<\/a> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">and, most recently, a<\/span> <a title=\"https:\/\/floralmarketingfund.org\/product\/consumer-houseplant-purchasing-2021\/\" contenteditable=\"false\" href=\"https:\/\/floralmarketingfund.org\/product\/consumer-houseplant-purchasing-2021\/\">study on houseplant purchasing<\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/endowment.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/imported-files\/58fc3e75-90db-d47b-e5dc-0e9861416a3e-scaled.png\" width=\"360\" height=\"178\" align=\"right\" data-file-id=\"2289500\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cI\u2019m excited to represent and share the current priorities and needs of young professionals in the green industry. Through my time in this position, I hope to support AFE\u2019s strategic goals, especially with regards to engaging the next generation,\u201d states Dr. Knuth.<\/span><br><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><br><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Young Professionals Council Advisor will serve a two-year term and will Chair the YPC Task Force to collect and share feedback with the
