Se ha establecido un homenaje conmemorativo dentro de la AFE en honor a Will Carlson, Ph.D., fallecido el 20 de enero de 2010 en East Lansing, M\u00edchigan. Jack Van Namen, de Vans Inc., un amigo de toda la vida y antiguo alumno de Carlson, estableci\u00f3 dicho homenaje.<\/p>\n

Nacido el 20 de agosto de 1941, Carlson fue profesor em\u00e9rito de floricultura en la Universidad Estatal de M\u00edchigan durante 36 a\u00f1os, donde obtuvo la designaci\u00f3n de Profesor Distinguido en 1995. Durante su mandato, public\u00f3 m\u00e1s de 35 art\u00edculos cient\u00edficos y 400 art\u00edculos de divulgaci\u00f3n sobre la fisiolog\u00eda de los cultivos de floricultura ornamental. Ense\u00f1\u00f3 a m\u00e1s de 1.500 estudiantes universitarios de grado, 40 estudiantes de posgrado, 30.000 estudiantes en cursos de extensi\u00f3n y mantuvo una popular columna titulada \u201cOne to Grow On\u201d en la revista Greenhouse Grower durante m\u00e1s de tres d\u00e9cadas.
\n\u00c9l estableci\u00f3 y se desempe\u00f1\u00f3 como coordinador de la facultad del programa de Maestros Jardineros de M\u00edchigan, el cual capacit\u00f3 a m\u00e1s de 10,000 maestros jardineros.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00c9l fue responsable del establecimiento de los Jardines de Demostraci\u00f3n Hort\u00edcola y fue expresidente del Consorcio de Jardines de la MSU. Ayud\u00f3 a establecer la Asociaci\u00f3n Profesional de Productores de Plantas, fue director de la Asociaci\u00f3n de Escritores de Jardiner\u00eda y dio conferencias a grupos de jardiner\u00eda en todo el pa\u00eds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carlson obtuvo numerosos reconocimientos de la industria, incluido el Sal\u00f3n de la Fama de la Floricultura de la Sociedad de Floristas Estadounidenses y el premio H. Marc Cathey de la Sociedad Hort\u00edcola Estadounidense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
