Dillon\" src=\"https:\/\/endowment.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/imported-files\/Doug_Dillon.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"221\"><\/a>Se ha creado un homenaje conmemorativo en el seno de AFE en honor a Douglas K. Dillon, de 85 a\u00f1os, fallecido el 30 de septiembre de 2011. El homenaje se ha hecho posible gracias a una donaci\u00f3n de $1.500 realizada por el Consejo de Administraci\u00f3n de <a title=\"Seguros Hortica\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hortica.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Seguros Hortica<\/a>, un proveedor l\u00edder de seguros y beneficios para empleados para centros de jardiner\u00eda, viveros, floristas minoristas, distribuidores florales mayoristas, productores de invernadero y otros profesionales de la industria.<br>\u201cTenemos el honor de establecer el Homenaje Conmemorativo Douglas K. Dillon en nombre de nuestra Junta Directiva actual\u201d, dijo la directora ejecutiva de Hortica, Mona Haberer. \u201cDoug form\u00f3 parte de la Junta de Hortica durante m\u00e1s de 32 a\u00f1os, 16 de ellos como nuestro presidente. Este monumento conmemorativo es un tributo adecuado a su dedicaci\u00f3n no solo a nuestra empresa, sino tambi\u00e9n a la industria que amaba\u201d.\u201d<br>Diagnosticado con c\u00e1ncer a principios de 2009, Dillon fue un miembro activo de la industria y un gran defensor de la AFE. Presidente de Dillon Floral Corporation, en Bloomsburg, Pensilvania, de 1965 a 1991, cuando su hijo Robert asumi\u00f3 el cargo, Dillon se mantuvo activo en el negocio hasta aproximadamente un mes antes de su muerte.<br>Adem\u00e1s de su servicio en la Junta Directiva de Hortica, se desempe\u00f1\u00f3 como Presidente de la Sociedad de Floristas Americanos y en las Juntas Directivas de Roses, Inc., la Fundaci\u00f3n Fred C. Gloeckner y muchas otras. En 1993, Dillon recibi\u00f3 el Premio Ramo Dorado (ahora el Premio Paul Ecke Jr.) en reconocimiento a su dedicaci\u00f3n a la industria y la comunidad. Un a\u00f1o despu\u00e9s, recibi\u00f3 el m\u00e1ximo honor de la SAF al ser ingresado en el Sal\u00f3n de la Fama de la SAF.<br>A Dillon le sobreviven su esposa, Dorry, tres hijos, siete nietos y dos bisnietos.<\/p><h2><strong>Para hacer una contribuci\u00f3n al Homenaje Memorial Douglas K.
