Gloeckner<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Foundation Research Fund<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(FCGFRF) is awarding $122,698 in eight\u00a0new and continued research projects.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/endowment.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/362.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-23053\" style=\"width:460px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/endowment.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/362.png 600w, https:\/\/endowment.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/362-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/endowment.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/362-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/endowment.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/362-540x540.png 540w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2024, the Fred C. Gloeckner Foundation joined with the<a href=\"https:\/\/endowment.org\/es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00a0<strong>American<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Floral Endowment<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>(AFE) as a named fund to continue their mission and legacy. Since its inception in 1960, the Foundation has contributed over $7.5 million to support floriculture research initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Former Gloeckner Foundation Board members now serve on a committee for the fund, carrying forward the Foundation\u2019s mission by awarding competitive grants that drive innovation in floriculture and related fields at universities and research institutions across the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The committee also directs support through the New York Florists\u2019 Club Grants\u2014an enduring tribute to the original New York Florists\u2019 Club, founded in 1887 and incorporated into the Gloeckner Foundation in 1993, of which Fred C. Gloeckner was a lifelong member. These grants honor the many leaders who devoted their time and resources to strengthening the future of floriculture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year, the committee selected the following eight projects totaling $122,698 to receive funding:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Biocontrol of botrytis on roses:<\/strong> Dr. Michael Bradshaw and Dr. John Dole, North Carolina State University<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Using in vitro techniques to generate double-flowered Impatiens plants that are resistant to Impatiens Downy Mildew:<\/strong> Dr. Mark Bridgen, Cornell University<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Characterizing Fusarium solani species complex isolates associated with root rot in Phalaenopsis orchids in California:<\/strong> Dr. Johanna Del Castillo and Sophia Acker, University of California Davis<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Establishing best Management practices for floriculture production: <\/strong>Dr. Jeb Fields and Dr. Xingbo Wu, University of Florida<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Investigating the pathways of seed transmission in Xanthomonas campestris pv. incanae, the causal agent of bacterial blight of Stock:<\/strong> Dr. Francesca Hand, The Ohio State University **New York Florists\u2019 Club Grant<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Host specialization and characterization of Phytophthora nicotianae isolates from nursery-grown ornamental plants:<\/strong> Dr. Steven Jeffers, Clemson University<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Developing Thrips parvispinus management by understanding oviposition on ornamental plants:<\/strong> Dr. Shimat Villanasery Joseph, University of Georgia<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Overwatering and nutrient deficiency in spring crops:<\/strong> Making connections and defining parameters for greenhouse growers: Dr. Kimberly Williams, Kansas State University<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To learn more about the Fred C.
