Gloeckner Foundation Research Fund Committee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/endowment.org\/es\/gloeckner\/\"><strong>Fondo de Investigaci\u00f3n de la Fundaci\u00f3n Fred C. Gloeckner<\/strong><\/a> Committee is pleased to announce three new committee members&#8217; appointments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under the new partnership announced in 2024, the <a href=\"https:\/\/endowment.org\/es\/gloeckner\/\"><strong>Fred C. Gloeckner Foundation<\/strong><\/a> joined with the <a href=\"https:\/\/endowment.org\/es\/\"><strong>Endowment Floral Americano<\/strong><\/a> (AFE) as a named fund to continue the mission and legacy of the Fred C. Gloeckner Foundation. Since its inception in 1960, the Fred C. Gloeckner Foundation has contributed over $7.5 million to support floriculture research initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new Fred C. Gloeckner Foundation Research Fund committee, comprised of the former Gloeckner Foundation Board members, continues this legacy through AFE, awarding grants for research and educational projects in floriculture and related fields at universities, colleges, and research institutions in the United States. The committee is composed of floriculture experts from industry and academia, bringing diverse perspectives and enhancing the impact of the Fred C. His background is in greenhouse production with an emphasis on plant nutrition, abiotic disorders, and general plant health diagnostics. For 25 years, his research and extension efforts in flower bulb forcing and use were substantially supported by the Dutch flower bulb export industry as well as US companies and Foundations. Findings from his research group have been adopted by many in the floriculture industry worldwide. He teaches the first-year plant science course to Cornell freshmen, a course in herbaceous plant materials, and greenhouse management and crop production to advanced students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Dr. Mark Yelanich, Metrolina Greenhouses<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"844\" height=\"876\" src=\"https:\/\/endowment.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Screenshot-2025-07-22-at-7.13.52\u202fAM.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22715\" style=\"width:224px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/endowment.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Screenshot-2025-07-22-at-7.13.52\u202fAM.png 844w, https:\/\/endowment.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Screenshot-2025-07-22-at-7.13.52\u202fAM-289x300.png 289w, https:\/\/endowment.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Screenshot-2025-07-22-at-7.13.52\u202fAM-768x797.png 768w, https:\/\/endowment.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Screenshot-2025-07-22-at-7.13.52\u202fAM-540x560.png 540w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 844px) 100vw, 844px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Mark Yelanich is the Director of Research at Metrolina Greenhouses, where he leads a team of 12 scientists and technicians working to help Metrolina remain at the forefront of the live goods industry. The team supports the company\u2019s growers with technical expertise and manages a state-of-the-art testing laboratory. They also assist the marketing and sales departments through new plant variety and concept evaluations. Each year, the research team tests more than 5,000 new and existing plant varieties to ensure optimal performance for consumers. Their trials span five acres of public garden and five acres of confidential garden space. The team also ensures growers are equipped with guidance for cultivating each plant in environmentally responsible ways. Their one-acre trial house features seven environmentally controlled zones to support this mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Fred C. Gloeckner Foundation Research Fund Committee is excited to welcome these new committee members. Their expertise and insights will be invaluable as the committee continues to expand support for innovative research and ensure a vibrant future for the floriculture industry.
