If so, apply for the <a title=\"Ecke Scholarship\" href=\"https:\/\/endowment.org\/es\/paul-ecke-jr-floriculture-msph-d-scholarship\/\"><strong>Paul Ecke Jr. M.S.\/Ph.D. Scholarship Program<\/strong><\/a> now through Feb. 1, 2015. <a title=\"Ecke Application\" href=\"https:\/\/endowment.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/PaulEckeJrScholarshipApplication.docx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Applications<\/strong> <\/a>are available online.<br>The scholarship honors the late Paul Ecke Jr. of Encinitas, Calif., who made significant contributions to the floriculture industry and believed strongly in research and education. Ecke was concerned about the future of floriculture and recognized that innovative researchers and educators are necessary for the continued success of the industry.<br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5998\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5998\" src=\"https:\/\/endowment.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/imported-files\/Craver_crop-269x300.jpg\" alt=\"2015 Ecke Craver\" width=\"269\" height=\"300\"><p id=\"caption-attachment-5998\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Joshua Craver<br>Purdue University<br>2014 Ecke Recipient<\/p><br>Applicants must be in the process of successfully completing either a B.S. or M.S. degree in horticulture or a related field, (e.g., agricultural engineering, entomology, agricultural marketing and economics, plant pathology, etc.) at a U.S. land-grant university and must have the intention of pursuing an M.S. or Ph.D. degree on a full-time basis.<br>Although two students were awarded Ecke scholarships in 2014, generally one student will receive the award of $5,000 for two consecutive years, provided they continue to meet requirements and submit an annual update.<br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3917\" class=\"wp-image-3917 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/endowment.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/imported-files\/e_lookabaugh_crop-300x281.jpg\" alt=\"2014 Paul Ecke Winner Emma Lookabaugh\" width=\"300\" height=\"281\"><p id=\"caption-attachment-3917\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Emma Lookabaugh North Carolina State University 2014 Ecke Recipient<\/p><br>\u201cThis scholarship motivates me more than ever to strive for excellence in my schooling and research, in the aims of ultimately giving back more to this industry I have become passionate about,\u201d Joshua Craver, a <a title=\"2014 Ecke Winners\" href=\"https:\/\/endowment.org\/es\/good-pass-two-students-awarded-10000-afe-ecke-scholarships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>2014 Ecke recipient<\/strong><\/a>, said.<br>In addition to the application, the following documents must be submitted directly to AFE by the Feb. 1 deadline:<p><\/p><ul><li>A personal statement explaining the applicant\u2019s 1) reason for applying for the scholarship, 2) personal involvement in floriculture activities, 3) proposed research project and how it will contribute directly or indirectly toward resolving a major floriculture issue and 4) anticipated future professional goals in floriculture.<\/li><li>Three letters of recommendation, one of which must be from the applicant\u2019s floriculture-related advisor.<\/li><li>Official transcripts sent directly from the Office of the Registrar.<\/li><li>A video, up to three minutes long, telling the selection committee what makes you the best candidate for this scholarship and describing your current or proposed research project.<\/li><li>A color photo (preferably high resolution) for publicity purposes.<\/li><\/ul><p><strong><a title=\"Ecke Scholarship\" href=\"https:\/\/endowment.org\/es\/paul-ecke-jr-floriculture-msph-d-scholarship\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">More information about the Paul Ecke Jr. Scholarship Program and how to apply is available online.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>","protected":false},"template":"","news-categories":[40,31,29,49,44],"class_list":["post-2263","news","type-news","status-publish","hentry","news-categories-faculty-researcher","news-categories-latest-news","news-categories-news","news-categories-scholarship","news-categories-student"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.2 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>AFE Now Accepting Apps for $10,000 2015 Ecke Scholarship<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"AFE is accepting 2015 Ecke applications for the Paul Ecke Jr. Scholarship for graduate students.
