{"id":2049,"date":"2017-08-08T16:45:00","date_gmt":"2017-08-08T16:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/afe.epicenter1.com\/news\/applications-for-paid-floriculture-internships-due-october-1"},"modified":"2024-03-18T22:09:58","modified_gmt":"2024-03-18T22:09:58","slug":"applications-for-paid-floriculture-internships-due-october-1","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/endowment.org\/es\/news\/applications-for-paid-floriculture-internships-due-october-1","title":{"rendered":"Applications for Paid Floriculture Internships Due October 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Applications are now being accepted for the Vic &amp; Margaret Ball Intern Scholarship Program and Mosmiller Intern Scholarship Program.<br>AFE administers paid internship programs for floriculture and environmental horticulture students each year, and <strong>the next application deadline is October 1<\/strong>.<br>Students selected will receive a scholarship upon successful completion of their internships.<br><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-9747\" src=\"https:\/\/endowment.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/imported-files\/Photo2-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/endowment.org\/es\/pasantias\/#Ball\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Vic &amp; Margaret Ball Intern Scholarship Program<\/strong><\/a> was made possible through a generous gift from Vic &amp; Margaret Ball and allows students to gain experience at a commercial production greenhouse or nursery. The program offers paid internships in three, four or six-month durations and provides scholarships of up to $6,000.<br>Three videos were created earlier this year to promote the program:<\/p><ul><li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Am9vV86stRE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>student video<\/strong><\/a> shares students\u2019 successful internship experiences and testimonials on how the program helped them in their careers.<\/li><li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=fm0HQwtIPqM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>employer video<\/strong><\/a> encourages companies to participate in the program by becoming a host employer. This video explains the benefits of hosting an intern, and shows how AFE helps companies train the next generation of industry leaders.<\/li><li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=A2iPRwxJ-ms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>parent video<\/strong><\/a> explains to parents what an internship can do for their children\u2019s future. They will learn more about the program and how AFE provides students with valuable experiences.<\/li><\/ul><p>Honoring the late Colonel and Mrs. Walter E. Mosmiller, Jr., the <strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/endowment.org\/es\/pasantias\/#Mosmiller\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Programa de Becas para Pasantes Mosmiller<\/a><\/strong> provides students pursuing a career in retail or wholesale operations with internship experience. The program offers paid internships in 10-16 week durations and provides scholarships of $2,000.<br><b>Eligibility Requirements:<\/b><\/p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Full-time, undergraduate students who are U.S. citizens.<\/li><li>Must be enrolled in a floriculture\/environmental horticulture program at a two- or four-year college or university in the U.S.<\/li><li>Must maintain a \u201cC\u201d or better GPA.<\/li><\/ul><p>AFE\u00a0internships are the best way for students to gain hands-on experience that help them toward their future careers!<br>Students must apply for these internships by the
