{"id":1630,"date":"2018-09-25T17:58:00","date_gmt":"2018-09-25T17:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/afe.epicenter1.com\/news\/ypc-member-receives-first-place-at-ashs"},"modified":"2024-03-18T22:11:49","modified_gmt":"2024-03-18T22:11:49","slug":"ypc-member-receives-first-place-at-ashs","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/endowment.org\/es\/news\/ypc-member-receives-first-place-at-ashs","title":{"rendered":"YPC Member Receives First Place at ASHS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-10636 size-medium\" title=\"sadikshya\" src=\"https:\/\/endowment.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/imported-files\/SadikshyaASHS-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"ypc\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\"><br>Last month, during the 2018 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ashs.org\/\">American Society for Horticultural Science (ASHS)<\/a>\u00a0conference held in Washington, D.C., Sadikshya Sharma, received first place in the Graduate Student Poster competition at the master\u2019s Level.<br>Her poster illustrated the studies she has done on the \u201cEffects of Narrow Bandwidth Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) on Petunia and Spathiphyllum.\u201d<br>\u201cMy research with LEDs helps in building a foundation for further combining different LEDs and optimizing light quality in commercial propagation and production industry. This would ultimately reduce the cost for the lights used in propagation and production of petunia and spathiphyllum,\u201d says Sadikshya.<br>She is a graduate student in the Department of Environmental Horticulture, at the University of Florida where her adviser is Dr. Thomas Colquhoun.<br><strong>We want to congratulate Sadikshya, one of our very own Young Professional Council members
