Last month, AFE joined thousands of floral industry members and traveled to the Produce Marketing Association (PMA)\u2019s 2018 Fresh Summit<\/a> held in Orlando, Florida. And what a show it was!
PMA\u2019s CEO Cathy Burns presented The Forum for the Future State of the Industry, during which, she focused on technology, robotics, e-commerce and the many opportunities for the future of the industry. Burns also announced the launch of PMA\u2019s new produce and safety certification program.
The topics addressed in workshops held through the summit included transportation, global trade and other business focuses.
\"TerrilAnother topic was leading through adversity, which keynote speaker and two-time Super Bowl Champion, Peyton Manning offered his experience on. Not only was Manning\u2019s presentation motivating, but he was also just as charming and funny as you could imagine!
A raffle for a football signed by Manning was raffled off after the presentation\u2026and AFE\u2019s very own research coordinator, Dr. Terril Nell won!

During the final day of the summit, staff attended the Floral Expo hosted over 100 floral industry organizations \u2014 many who support AFE\u2019s programs.\u00a0This gave us the perfect opportunity to personally update folks about AFE\u2019s programs and introduce a handful of new supporters to all that AFE provides to help advance and support floriculture research, education, scholarships and bringing top talent to the industry.
Congratulations to the Board and staff of PMA for an incredible event.\u00a0We\u2019re looking forward to 2019 in Anaheim,
