Familiares y amigos de cerca y del extranjero se reunieron para recordar a August \u201cGus\u201d De Hertogh en el Arboreto J. C. Raulston en Raleigh, Carolina del Norte, el s\u00e1bado 16 de marzo de 2019. Gus falleci\u00f3 el 26 de octubre de 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En total, cerca de 200 personas asistieron al evento en una perfecta tarde de primavera. Fue muy apropiado que el evento presentara hermosos tulipanes y otras flores, generosamente proporcionados por miembros de la industria con los que Gus trabaj\u00f3 tan estrechamente durante d\u00e9cadas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El programa, presentado por el Dr. Elliot Engel, un amigo de toda la vida de Gus y Mary Belle, ofreci\u00f3 fant\u00e1sticas historias sobre el impacto que Gus dej\u00f3 en la industria de los bulbos en todo el mundo. Pero m\u00e1s que eso, fue un mentor y amigo importante para decenas de personas que conoci\u00f3 profesionalmente en el \u00e1mbito acad\u00e9mico y en la industria\u201d, dijo Debbie Hamrick. \u201cCada vez que vemos un cultivo de bulbos en maceta o de flor cortada en el invernadero, en el campo o en el comercio minorista, podemos agradecerle por desarrollar los protocolos de producci\u00f3n basados en la investigaci\u00f3n que hicieron posible ese mercado. Fue fundamental en la creaci\u00f3n de millones de d\u00f3lares en nuevas ventas de productos de bulbos para los productores de floricultura de todo el mundo. Fue un honor tenerlo como mentor y llamarlo amigo\u201d.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/endowment.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/imported-files\/IMG_5168-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11525\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAparte de su vida profesional, Gus era un esposo, padre y abuelo cari\u00f1oso\u201d, dice su esposa, Mary Belle. \u201cNuestra p\u00e9rdida es incalculable. Por siempre celebraremos su bondad, su generosidad y su amor\u201d.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #c40003;\"><strong>Se ha establecido un homenaje en memoria para honrar a Gus, con el objetivo de crear un fondo de becas con su nombre que pueda otorgarse a un estudiante anualmente.
