{"id":1260,"date":"2020-01-21T23:33:00","date_gmt":"2020-01-21T23:33:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/afe.epicenter1.com\/news\/afe-announces-garcia-family-scholarship-fund"},"modified":"2024-03-26T14:55:35","modified_gmt":"2024-03-26T14:55:35","slug":"afe-announces-garcia-family-scholarship-fund","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/endowment.org\/es\/news\/afe-announces-garcia-family-scholarship-fund","title":{"rendered":"AFE Announces Garcia Family Scholarship Fund"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/endowment.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/imported-files\/Picture1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11990\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The American Floral Endowment (AFE) is pleased to announce a new scholarship fund created thanks to generous contributions from The Garcia Family.&nbsp; The <strong>Garcia Family S<\/strong><strong>cholarship<\/strong> comes just in time for the 2020 scholarship application season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Garcia Family Scholarship Fund is intended for<\/strong> students attending a two-year college, or Junior or Seniors attending a four-year institution with a career focus on the marketing or distribution of floral products, including retail, wholesale, manufacturing and\/or floral business ownership\/operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt is our family\u2019s desire, by giving back to our industry, to attract and educate for the future,\u201d says Pete Garcia, Chairman and CEO of The Pete Garcia Company and Garcia Group, Inc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new scholarship joins more than 25 other scholarships AFE awards annually to promote and assist young professionals joining the floral and horticultural industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Garcia Family has long supported the floral industry through industry service, contributions, and developing superior products to not only serve the industry, but to satisfy consumers, \u201d says AFE Past Chairman and longtime family friend, <a href=\"https:\/\/dmcolor.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dwight Larimer.<\/a>&nbsp; \u201cIt\u2019s fitting that they have a scholarship to forever honor their family\u2019s strong commitment to the industry.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/endowment.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/imported-files\/Garcia-Family-Photo-1024x606.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12029\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Garcia Family has proudly served the floral industry since 1965.&nbsp; Owned by the Garcia family,&nbsp;<strong>Garcia Group, Inc.<\/strong>&nbsp;operates six different divisions: Floral-Pak\u00ae Company;&nbsp;Plus One Imports\u2122; Garcia Group Glass\u2014Floraglas\u00ae&nbsp;<strong>and&nbsp;<\/strong>G3\u00ae brand products; Vase D\u2019Lite\u00ae and Premium Wood Picks.
