We have partnered with e-Gro to present webinars focusing on new findings from AFE-funded research projects. The webinars are free. They aim to better communicate the results to growers and to share how to best implement the findings. They also allow for a greater number of managers and staff to hear this information first-hand.

The new AFE/e-Gro webinars will be one hour in length with time for participants to ask specific questions of the researchers. They will complement the successful webinars that e-Gro is already conducting and provide greater resources for growers.

The first webinar, “New Daily Light Integral Maps and Advances in Supplemental Lighting for Ornamentals” is slated for November 2nd from Noon – 1:00 p.m. Eastern.

Presenters Jim Faust, Clemson University and Marc van Iersel from the University of Georgia, will explain how to use the new DLI maps, and plant physiological responses to light.  This information will allow growers to develop cost-effective supplemental lighting strategies.

“Effectively communicating the findings from AFE’s research is a priority”, says AFE Research Coordinator Terril Nell, Ph.D.  “An added benefit is having the researchers available during the webinars to interact with growers.  This will allow growers to tackle tough challenges more efficiently.”

The new Webinar Programs are funded through an annual AFE Education Grant to e-Gro. “AFE has sponsored the e-Gro program since the beginning and has funded many of the researchers in this network for over a decade,” says AFE Executive Director Debi Chedester. “It made sense to expand this grant to reach more growers and expand the outreach for AFE’s important research.”
