***NEW AND IMPROVED*** AFE ENHANCES SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH WEB PAGES
Edwardsville, IL, April 25, 2008 – Would you like to see what projects AFE is currently funding, review Special Research Reports on topics such as Disease Management, Plant Breeding and Genetic Engineering or Production Technology, or just view a repository of scientific research report articles? Perhaps you need to download a Pre-Proposal Application or an Annual Progress Report and Continued Funding Request form?
Maybe you are interested in learning more about current industry concerns on “Chilli Thrips Resistance Management”, a project led by Dr. Lance Osborne at the University of Florida or a project on “Strategies for Mastering Downy and Powdery Mildews in Floriculture” led by Dr. Mary Hausbeck at Michigan State University. To learn more about these subjects, or more, visit our website at http://endowment.org/scientific-research/.
We have updated our website with information on all current and previously funded projects as well as expanded our Reporting section. It now includes recently published articles from researchers whose projects are supported by AFE and provided links to articles where AFE is cited in industry publications.
AFE’s Production and Post-Harvest Scientific Research Program has the most comprehensive research proposal review process in the industry. A four step review process ensures that the projects funded by AFE are relevant to the floricultural industry, carry the highest priority, are conducted by the best scientists in their field, are fiscally responsible, and meet or exceed our expectations. The entire process is overseen by Dr. Gus De Hertogh, the AFE Research Coordinator who is a member of the SAF Hall of Fame and Professor Emeritus from North Carolina State University. He is internationally recognized for his outstanding work in floriculture research.
The American Floral Endowment is the leading not-for-profit, non-governmental source for floricultural/environmental horticulture research and development funding in the United States. Its mission is to fund research and educational programs, finance scholarships and internships that foster a stronger floriculture industry. Tax-deductible contributions from all segments of the industry over the past 47 years have enabled the Endowment to invest over $13M to help fund solutions to industry needs. For additional information regarding the programs of the Endowment, visit our website: www.endowment.org.
