 INDUSTRY NEEDS ADDRESSED

The floriculture industry loses billions of dollars to plant diseases annually.  Producers need effective, economical disease management methods to reduce these losses. Nutritional supplementation with soluble silicon (Si), a mineral deficient in greenhouse peat mixes, has the potential to augment standard disease management programs.  However, the efficacy of the various chemical forms of Si and application methods against particular plant pathogens must be assessed.
