Building A Stronger Floriculture Industry! - 2001

SINCE 1961, the American Floral Endowment has been funding educational programs that promote the Floriculture Industry. The majority of the programs are wide-reaching, educational endeavors to identify and solve industry needs and/or challenges and focus on attracting young people to the industry. One such program, the National FFA Floriculture Proficiency Award was designed to encourage agriculture students to become involved with the floral industry through the practical experience of establishing their own floral business. The program recognizes student accomplishments at the local, regional, state, and national level. The National Intercollegiate Floral Crop Quality Evaluation and Design Competition, another of the myriad Endowment funded programs, is sponsored in cooperation with Pi Alpha Xi National (The Honor Society for Floriculture and Horticulture).

In 2000, the Endowment adopted a new process for reviewing and allocating its educational grants. A formal grant application process has been implemented, with all Grants being reviewed on an annual basis, their funding dependent on the availability of resources. The Educational Grant Application can be downloaded from the Endowment web site at: Click Here and must be received at the Endowment office by June 1, 2001.

The American Floral Endowment has been the leading not-for-profit organization in the floriculture industry for over 40 years. Its mission is to fund research and educational programs that foster a stronger floriculture industry. Tax-deductible contributions from all segments of the industry have enabled the Endowment to invest over $9M, helping to unlock other key secrets that have allowed the industry to blossom.
